A 56-year-old Pottstown man died following a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Amity Township, according to the Berks County Coroner’s Office.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:08 a.m. June 27 in front of 1832 Old Swede Road, authorities said. A preliminary investigation determined the man, who was the sole occupant and driver of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a tree.
Emergency responders extricated the driver from the vehicle before transporting him to Reading Hospital, where he died despite lifesaving efforts. The Berks County Coroner’s Office was notified of the fatal crash at 7:16 a.m., and a deputy coroner responded to the hospital to conduct the investigation.
The deceased has been identified as a 56-year-old man from Pottstown. His name is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
The cause of death will be listed as multiple blunt force injuries. The manner of death remains pending completion of the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation by the Berks County Coroner’s Office and the Amity Township Police Department.
