A driver competing in the Duryea Hillclimb was killed Saturday afternoon, August 19th. The crash was reported around 3pm.
According to initial reports, the driver lost control of their vehicle just after the first vista point past the Pagoda and struck a tree.
The 2.2 mile race course begins at the intersection of Duryea Drive and the 13th Street Extension, with the course ending at the William Penn Memorial Fire Tower on Skyline Drive.
The victims name or car has not been released.
Race officials posted to social media late Saturday night stating the competition scheduled for Sunday, August 20th, has been canceled.
