Berks County schools launch “Level Up Berks” campaign to attract future educators

Campaign aims to inspire career-changers and young talent to pursue roles in education.

The Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU), in collaboration with local schools and higher education institutions, is proud to announce the launch of the “Level Up Berks” campaign. The county-wide initiative seeks to inspire individuals from all walks of life to consider a career in education, offering pathways for high school and college students, career changers, and the general public to explore the opportunities available in the education profession.

A key component of the campaign is LevelUpBerks.org, where interested individuals can learn about the various education careers available in Berks County, connect with participating schools, hear from local education professionals about their experiences, and access resources for continuing education and certification opportunities. The campaign aims to build awareness around the critical need for educators and support staff in Berks County and promote teaching and other education-related roles as fulfilling and impactful careers.

The launch of the “Level Up Berks” campaign comes at a time when schools across the nation are facing unprecedented staffing challenges. Throughout the United States, there is a significant shortage of teachers and school support personnel. The impact of these shortages is far-reaching, creating an urgent need to recruit and retain education professionals. The “Level Up Berks” campaign is just one of the tools to raise awareness and encourage individuals to pursue the field of education as a stable, rewarding, and impactful career.

“The need for qualified educators has never been greater,” said Dr. Jill Hackman, BCIU Executive Director. “Our goal is to inspire the next generation of teachers and support staff who will help our schools and communities thrive and ensure every student has access to a quality education. Collectively, we have a vital impact on the more than 70,000 students served in Berks County, and through the ‘Level Up Berks’ campaign, we hope to foster recognition of the value and importance of the work of individuals in the field of education.”

The campaign targets three key audiences: high school and college students exploring future career options, individuals seeking a second career, and the general public. By promoting education as a dynamic and meaningful career choice, the campaign strives to attract diverse talent into the profession and address current and future staffing needs.
