Berks Career & Technology Center appointed an inaugural board of trustees to its new education foundation several months ago. Of the trustees, Gavin Milligan, 20, from Blandon, was recently voted as the board’s President of the foundation.
As an organization, BCTC Education Foundation was established by its administration to provide more opportunities to its students through scholarships, coverage of travel expenses for competitions, cash incentives for summer interns, and even the funding of new equipment for needy students.
Milligan, a marketing, communications, and non-profit management professional, graduated from Berks Career and Technology Center’s Business Management & Entrepreneurship program in 2021 and has been modernizing the workforce ever since.
“I can confidently argue students receive industry-leading education; not being limited by their financial situation will give Berks County’s career and technical students even more opportunities to succeed,” Gavin Milligan explains.
With non-profit experience as a marketing and development specialist at Olivet Boys & Girls Club of Reading and Berks County, he brings experience to the table.
“Gavin has a unique talent to take on any project and run with it – a true change agent and project manager. This, combined with his passion for education, youth advocacy, and the well-being of Berks County, will surely be impactful. In his time at our organization, he worked diligently to increase and strengthen the recognition of Olivet’s programs and services,” explains Christopher Winters, President and CEO of Olivet Boys & Girls Club, a Reading-based youth advocacy organization serving over 5,000 youth and their families annually.
Currently, he serves as an account manager for Mobile Marketing, a digital marketing technology agency headquartered in Pottstown that assists businesses in establishing and growing their lead-generation process through unique technology and consultation.
“As a young, ambitious, and passionate young professional in Berks County, I’m excited to use the expertise of my colleagues and peers in balance with industry-leading process and program management practices to develop a strong infrastructure that’ll serve in the best interests of the students,” says Milligan.
Other officers include Vice President Benjamin Mitten, VP of Colocation Services at TierPoint, Secretary Clare Kilpatrick-Benz, retired Career Education Specialist at Hamburg School District, and Treasurer Kenneth Remick, VP and Senior Relationship Manager at Fulton Bank.
