Soma Ghosh, Ph.D., Chester Springs, Pa., has been promoted to Professor of Economics at Albright College.
Professor Ghosh received her doctorate and Master of Arts degree from Clark University and earned her bachelor’s degree from Scottish Church College. Ghosh joined the Albright College faculty as an assistant professor of economics in 2009 and was tenured and promoted to associate professor in 2012.
Ghosh’s research focuses on local governments and the implementation of sustainable development, and the achievement of the United Nations’ sustainable development goals in the private sector. Her research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals that include the International Journal of Sustainable Development and World Ecology and Environmental Management and Sustainable Development.
Ghosh has developed and taught a substantial number of courses, beginning with 100-level courses and extending to the professional and master’s divisions — all underscoring her commitment to utilizing innovative approaches and activities to guide students into a conceptual understanding of challenging material.
Ghosh has engaged in several supervised student research projects that have resulted in 10 student presentations at professional conferences since she earned tenure. She has also served on several Albright committees, including the Professional Council, the General Education Committee and the Undergraduate Research Committee.
