Governor Mifflin School District seeks community feedback in Superintendent search

Governor Mifflin School District is seeking community feedback as they begin the search for a new Superintendent.

The Governor Mifflin School Board of Directors received notice from Bill McKay, current district Superintendent, of his intent to retire during the September 12 board meeting. The board officially accepted the intent to retire at the September 19 meeting.

McKay will complete the 2022-2023 school year in his current role. His retirement will take effect on June 30, 2023.

Community members are encouraged to complete the superintendent search survey, which will be available on the district’s website until November 29, 2022.

The survey will gauge which areas of expertise and characteristics our community deems most important for the future superintendent to possess. The school board will then use this feedback to screen, interview, and select a candidate for the position.

Community members without internet access or their own device may schedule a time to visit the Governor Mifflin Education Center to complete the survey.

The district plans to have a candidate selected and announced to the public prior to McKay’s retirement. Qualified applicants are invited to apply through the district’s hiring portal, available on the district website.
