The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has posted an updated list of recent Retail Food Inspection Reports for restaurants and food handlers in Berks County. Inspections are a “snapshot” of the day and time of the inspection. Violations are recorded but are often corrected on the spot prior to the inspector leaving the facility. On 8/6/2026, Wendy’s #19304, located at 15 Daves Way, Hamburg, PA 19526, was inspected and found with the following violation: The food facility does not have the original certificate for the certified food employee posted in public view. The floor / wall juncture in prep area on the corner by the hallway to the office is not coved and closed to 1/32 inch. Tile is broken off and needs to be repaired.
On 8/6/2026, Taco Bell/Long John Silver’s, located at 65 Industrial Dr., Hamburg, PA 19526, was inspected and found with the following violation: Fryer basket was observed with broken wires this item needs to be repaired or replaced. Floor grout in a few back of house areas is cracked / roughened / and is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface. Please repair the grout to prevent water pooling. Floor tile in the mop sink area is made of tile and is cracked / roughened / and is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface. Please replace this broken tile.
On 8/7/2026, V & S Sandwiches West, located at 4301 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, PA 19608, was inspected and found with the following violation: Food facility does not have the correct type of sanitizer test strips for the sanitizer tablets being used at the 3-compartment sink. This is a repeat violation and needs to be corrected.
On 8/7/2026, Family Dollar Store #28494, located at 3564 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, PA 19608, was inspected and found with the following violations: 5 pints of half and half were observed in customer facing refrigerator with a sell by date of June 20, 2026. Removed from salesfloor. 2 gallons of Swiss whole milk were observed in the customer facing refrigerator with a sell by date of 8/3/2026. Removed from sales floor. Drywall in the back room was observed with several areas of holes. Please repair.
On 8/7/2026, Bally Hotel, located at 660 Main St., Bally, PA 19503, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed the fryers, ventilation hood, floors, and walls have a large build-up of grease on them
On 8/10/2026, Redner’s Market #50, located at 801 Carsonia Ave., Reading, PA 19606, was inspected and found with the following violation: Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the meat room. Corrected. Working containers (spray bottles) in the produce and deli areas, used for storing chemicals, cleaners taken from bulk supplies, were not marked with the common name of the chemical. Corrected.
On 8/10/2026, KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot, located at 1665 State Hill Rd., Unit 295, Wyomissing, PA 19610, was inspected and found with the following violation: The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate control of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. Chlorine chemical sanitizer residual detected in the final sanitizer rinse cycle of the low temperature sanitizing dishwasher was 0 ppm, and not 50-100 ppm as required. Facility must sanitize all dishes at the 3-compartment sink until the dishwasher is working properly. Open employee beverage containers were observed in the kitchen food preparation areas. Corrected. Spring rolls and chicken nuggets were held at 126 and 116 °F, at the hot hold bar, rather than 135°F or above as required. Facility will use time in lieu of temperature until the hot hold unit is working properly. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration at the dishwasher, glass washer or 3-compartment sink.
On 8/11/2026, Subway/Auntie Anne’s, located at 1800 Tilden Ridge Dr., Hamburg, PA 19526, was inspected and found with the following violation: Food employees observed in food prep area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as beard covers.
On 8/11/2026, Sleepy Hollow Athletic Club – Bar, located at 482 Westley Rd., Mohnton, PA 19540, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed boxes of soda syrup stored directly on the floor in downstairs area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Observed clean food utensils in kitchen area, stored uncovered or not inverted. Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the women’s bathroom and bar. Soap was not available at the handwash sink in the bar area. No sign or poster posted at the handwash sink in the bar area to remind food employees to wash their hands.

On 8/11/2026, Sandstone Acres, located at 67 Bowmansville Rd., Mohnton, PA 19540, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed containers of cut cantaloupe in the designated handwash sink. Corrected.
On 8/11/2026, Pizza Hut #37146, located at 204 Lancaster Ave., Reading, PA 19607, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed the exterior of the dish wash machine and the surrounding areas (walls and floor) to have a buildup of dirt, grease and old food residue. Observed single use items at pizza making station not stored inverted to prevent contamination. Corrected. Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. Observed the air vents and dry storage shelving to have buildup of dust throughout the facility. Mops are not being hung to air dry. Corrected.
On 8/11/2026, Morgantown Coffee House, located at 4997 Twin Valley Rd., Suite 2, Elverson, PA 19520, was inspected and found with the following violation: The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. Multiple foods were held at 48°F, in the back refrigerator area (Waffle area), rather than 41°F or below as required. Corrected. Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the refrigerator by the cook line, is not being date marked. Observed an excessive amount of food on the floor on the cook line. Observed the grates and baskets in the walk-in cooler to have a buildup of apparent mold. Food employee observed towel drying utensils and food equipment after cleaning. Old food residue, dishes and utensils observed in the handwash sink, indicating uses other than handwashing. Corrected. Mops are not being hung to air dry. Multiple food ingredient storage containers, in the back prep area, is not labeled with the common name of the food. Interior of the ice machine, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch.
On 8/11/2026, Kenhorst Volunteer Fire Co., located at 411 Kenhorst Blvd., Reading, PA 19607, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed the fan grates in the walk-in cooler to have a build up dirt/dust. Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the small Bain Marie not being date marked. Commercially processed refrigerated, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food, located in the sauce refrigerator, and held more than 24 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. Observed deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required. Observed the cutting board on the small Bain Marie to be deeply scored.

On 8/11/2026, Anthony’s Trattoria, located at 900 Byram St., Reading, PA 19606, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed an accumulation of food debris on non-food contact surfaces of the slicer. Corrected.
On 8/12/2026, Folino Estate Vineyard & Winery, located at 340 Old Route 22, Kutztown, PA 19530, was inspected and found with the following violation: Interior ice chute on the ice machine in the prep area was observed with organic build up and in need of cleaning. Please increase the frequency of cleaning for this item to ensure there is no build up. Observed clean insert pans with label residue. Please re clean these items and remove any label residue to ensure proper cleaning and storing. Ceiling tiles above the cookline area were observed with excessive dust build up and in need of cleaning. Many food items were held at 60 °F, in the cookline area, rather than 41°F or below as required. Some food items were recently moved to this cooler and were in temperature all other were not. Please move the new items to the walk-in cooler and discard any items that have been in the cooler longer than 2 hours. Do not use this unit until repairs are made.
On 8/12/2026, Deep Roots Cafe, located at 20 N. 6th Ave., West Reading, PA 19611, was inspected and found with the following violation: Tableware for customer self-service is not displayed so that only handles are touched by consumers and employees. Corrected. A few prepackaged self-serve food items in the front customer area are not labeled properly with the name of product, ingredient statement, net weight, and/or distributed by statement.
On 8/12/2026, Burger King #7166, located at 1197 Berkshire Blvd., Wyomissing, PA 19610, was inspected and found with the following violation: Thermometer for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in the small refrigerator at the front counter. The ice chutes at the customer soda units, food contact surfaces, were observed to have residue and were not clean to sight and touch. Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. Old food debris and dirt observed on the floors under equipment/shelves and on some shelving units throughout the kitchen. Floor drain in the drive thru area has a significant buildup of slime/debris. Floor under the soda unit in the drive thru area has a significant accumulation of dirt, trash. There is an accumulation of water under the soda unit in the drive thru area. Pipes for draining equipment liquid are not properly connected and are not directing water to the floor drain under the counter.
