KU Professor inducted into Steinway and Sons Teacher Hall of Fame

Dr. Maria Asteriadou, professor of piano and chamber music at Kutztown University, has been inducted into the esteemed Steinway and Sons Teacher Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony, recognizing her outstanding commitment to piano instruction, took place October 5 at the prestigious Historic Steinway factory in New York City.

Celebrated worldwide for her intense artistry and exceptional performances, Asteriadou collaborates with prestigious orchestras, champions Greek composers and has received critical acclaim for her recordings.

Alongside her performing career, she is an accomplished educator at institutions such as Manhattan School of Music and Kutztown University. Her musical journey reflects a deep commitment to both performance and education, marked by numerous accolades and international engagements.

The commendation bestowed upon Asteriadou by the esteemed piano maker highlights her unwavering commitment to the art of teaching and her pivotal role in shaping the musical aspirations of her students. Her recognition not only acknowledges her individual achievements but also underscores the academic excellence and dedication to musical education at Kutztown University.

“It is indeed a great honor and privilege to be inducted into the Steinway Teacher Hall of Fame,” said Asteriadou. “I have been a Steinway Artist since 2018 and greatly value this relationship. The responsiveness, range of dynamics and coloristic palette of the Steinway piano have become an indispensable part of my performing and teaching life. I am also eternally grateful for our students at Kutztown University to have Steinway pianos to practice and perform on.”
