Over 250 people attended the Reading Education Foundation’s Launch Party, which was recently held at First Energy Stadium.
The purpose of the foundation is to award grants to schools, teachers and partners that support academic innovation, giving students in the Reading School District opportunities they may not otherwise have.
At the Launch the foundation, a grant in the amount of $4010 was awarded to Southern Middle School to enhance their What’s So Great About Manufacturing and What’s So Great About Southern programs.
The foundation also raised over $30,000 to send middle school students to the Science Research Institute at Albright College. These funds were raised in honor of Dr. Khalid Mumin, departing Superintendent of Schools in the Reading School District.
