Abilities in Motion proudly presents its third annual Art Show celebrating the adoption of the American’s with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the creative talents of artists with disabilities. The ADA Celebration Art Show will be held on Thursday, July 18, from 3 to 8 pm at the Inn at Reading, 1040 Park Road, Wyomissing. The event is free to the public and everyone is invited. Light refreshments will be provided.
This year the Art Show showcases the talents of over 35 artists with disabilities in media including ink, paint, written word, clay, textiles, and more. Some of the artists will be offering their work for sale. All of the artists will be present to speak to attendees about their art.
Abilities in Motion has several new partners for the Art Show this year, showing strong support for the disability community. The Art Bus will be present with free crafts for children, Barrio Alegría will be offering an interactive art activity, and The RIZE Program will be providing an interactive hip hop dance demonstration for anyone who wants to participate.
CrossTrainer Mixed Reality, a virtual reality company housed at the Goggleworks, will have VR headsets on hand to allow art show visitors to experience alternative ways to create and view art in virtual reality, an especially valuable technology for people with disabilities.
KidSight of the Central PA Lions Club District 14-P will be providing free vision screenings for children, and Berks Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services will be offering free hearing screenings.
