Abilities in Motion to hold 3rd Annual ADA Celebration Art Show

Abilities in Motion is proud to present its 3rd annual ADA Celebration Art Show, which celebrates the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act by showcasing artists with disabilities.

Abilities in Motion will partner with the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts for a third time to present an art show exhibition in the 4th floor gallery from July 25 through July 29 featuring the works of artists with disabilities.

The theme this year is “I Can”. The artists’ stories and biographies accompanying the art bring this exhibit to life and encourage attendees to connect with the artists’ work on a personal level.

This exhibition honors the 32nd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, which falls on July 26th and established civil rights for people with disabilities and allowed for a more inclusive, accessible society.

“We are pleased to partner again with the GoggleWorks for this year’s celebration of the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The COVID-19 pandemic created extremely challenging times, so it is even more important to showcase stories of people with disabilities in their own expression of art” said Stephanie Quigley, Abilities in Motion Executive Director.

“We are happy to bring awareness to their creative talent and abilities. Our hope is that this exhibition not only provides an opportunity for the community to gain a better understanding of disability but also the importance of the ADA to people with disabilities.”

Abilities in Motion conceptualized the annual art show six years ago to recognize the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) by highlighting the culturally diverse artistic talent within our local community. This is our third year partnering with the GoggleWorks to showcase the artwork in a professional gallery.

Artists with disabilities will exhibit their creations through a variety of media, including painting, drawing, photography and sculpture. Artist contact information will be provided in the exhibit.

The exhibition will feature a public reception from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Monday, July 25, 2022, with a drop-in meet-and-greet running through Friday, July 29.
