Boyertown kicks off the Holiday Season with Unity Tree Lighting

The rain didn’t stop residents of Boyertown from enjoying the 2nd annual Unity Tree lighting event held Friday night by the Committee for the Unity Tree of Boyertown.

To minimize crowds, the event was offered as both an in person and virtual event, broadcast on Facebook Live by Out & About in Eastern Berks.

To kick off the event, local musical group, Funky Frets, lead the crowd in singing popular holiday carols.

Boyertown Mayor Marianne Deery spoke about the importance of unity in the community just before flipping the switch to light the tree.

“The star of our tree represents the shining of our community, and I can certainly see that tonight with this community” said Mayor Deery. “Remember this, we may not have it all together, but together, we have it all.”

The Unity Tree is an 18 foot Douglas Fir, donated by Mar-Jo Farms.
