The Berks County-based IM ABLE Foundation will welcome individuals, families and community members of all ages and abilities to the 2026 IM ABLE Games on Saturday, September 19, at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum at Reading Regional Airport. Designed for everyone from experienced competitors to those simply looking for a fun and active day, the event offers an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can participate. Races begin at 8:30 a.m.
Returning for its third year, the IM ABLE Games brings the community together for a one-of-a kind, inclusive fitness experience on the airport tarmac. More than a competition, the event celebrates determination, connection, and the possibilities created when people of all abilities are welcomed and empowered to participate. Proceeds from the event help the IM ABLE Foundation expand access to adaptive fitness classes, veteran-focused programs, and inclusive community experiences for people with disabilities.
“The IM ABLE Games is about bringing the entire community together,” said Alex A. Pilkington, CEO of the IM ABLE Foundation. “Whether someone runs, walks, rolls, volunteers, or cheers from the sidelines, everyone has a place at this event. Every participant helps us create more opportunities for people to be active, build confidence, and redefine what is possible.”
Participants can choose their challenge with a 2-mile, 4.5-mile or 9-mile run, walk or roll. New for 2026, the expanded distance options include 4.5-mile and 9-mile courses, as well as a dedicated wheelchair division for adaptive athletes.
The event will also feature the popular Kaaginator Fitness Challenge, a series of fitness stations designed to test strength, endurance, balance, and problem-solving. This year’s longer course includes additional obstacles that will challenge athletes both physically and mentally. Participants can also push themselves further through multi-event challenges or race against the clock in the Hot Wing Hustle wing-eating competition sponsored by Klinger’s at the Airport. Each event is designed to be accessible, adaptable, and challenging, with participants with disabilities fully integrated throughout the Games.
After competing, participants and spectators are invited to stay for a post-race celebration featuring music, food, and refreshments. Optional recovery experiences, including a sauna and cold plunge zone, will also be available.
Community members can register to participate, volunteer, sponsor the event, or attend to support participants. Individuals and businesses unable to attend can also make a donation in support of the IM ABLE Foundation’s mission. To register, donate, or learn more, visit imablefoundation.org.
