The LGBT Center of Greater Reading has announced a series of events to mark Pride Month, inviting the community to join in celebration, visibility, and support for LGBTQ+ individuals across Berks County.
The Center will kick off its festivities with a flag-raising ceremony on Saturday, June 8 at 2 p.m. in City Park. Titled “Raise the Flag, Raise Our Voices,” the event will feature the hoisting of the Progress Pride flag in a public show of solidarity and inclusion. Organizers are encouraging residents to attend and show support for the region’s diverse LGBTQ+ community.
Throughout June, the Center is also promoting its annual Pride Tag fundraiser, offering tags for $20. Those who purchase a tag will receive exclusive discounts at participating businesses across the region. Proceeds from the Pride Tags go directly toward supporting programs at the LGBT Center.
Later in the month, community members are invited to participate in a lively Aqua Zumba class on Monday, June 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the West Reading Pool. The event, led by Hydro Fitness & Fun with Sherri, blends dance and water-based exercise for an energetic evening of movement, raffles, and community fun. A minimum donation of $11 is required to participate. A rain date is set for July 1.
“These events are not only fun and empowering—they’re a way for our entire community to come together in visibility and support,” said Laura Biancone, Executive Director of The LGBT Center of Greater Reading. “Pride is about joy, resistance, and connection. We can’t wait to celebrate with everyone.”
