The Miller Center at Reading Area Community College announces star-studded fall lineup for 2024 season

Marc Cohn, The Magic of John Westford, Ailey II, Capitol Fools, Jill Haley, National Geographic Live, Lightwire Theater, Spanish Harlem Orchestra and more!

The Miller Center at Reading Area Community College has unveiled what promises to be one of its most exciting seasons to date, featuring a dynamic lineup of concerts, live podcasts, theatrical performances, and special events. Sponsored by Performance Toyota, this fall season is packed with world-class entertainment that is sure to draw audiences from across the region.

The season kicks off on Saturday, September 14th, with a performance by the legendary Gatlin Brothers, whose rich catalog of country hits and spiritually infused music has captivated fans for decades. This concert sets the stage for a season filled with diverse and engaging performances.

On September 24th, iconic singer-songwriter Marc Cohn will take the stage. Best known for his timeless hit “Walking in Memphis,” Cohn’s heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies have made him a staple in American music for over 30 years. His appearance at the Miller Center is presented by Herbein, adding a personal touch to what is sure to be a memorable evening.

For podcast enthusiasts, the Miller Center will host its first-ever live podcast event on Thursday, September 26th, featuring the popular “Discover AG” podcast. Hosted by two millennial women, this top 10 food podcast offers a fresh and modern take on food discussions and is presented by the Berks County Department of Agriculture.

Music lovers are in for a treat on Saturday, October 5th, when the North Mississippi All-Stars, led by acclaimed guitarist Luther Dickinson, bring their electrifying blend of blues and rock to the Miller Center. Dickinson’s guitar prowess has earned him a spot among the greatest living guitarists, making this concert a must-see.

Families won’t want to miss “The Magic of John Westford” on October 19th. This American illusionist, known for his quick wit and astounding tricks, promises to deliver a family-friendly show with a surprise so big it requires the full Miller Center stage.

Dance enthusiasts will be thrilled to see Ailey II, the next generation of the legendary Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, perform on Sunday, October 20th. Ailey II continues the tradition of excellence in modern dance, showcasing some of the most talented young dancers in the world.

As the fall political season heats up, the Miller Center offers some comic relief with “Capital Fools” on Tuesday, October 29th. This comedy show will satirize both sides of the political aisle, providing a humorous break from the intensity of election season.

Due to popular demand, “The Carole King & James Taylor Story,” initially scheduled for a single performance on November 2nd, has added an additional show earlier in the day. This tribute performance celebrates one of the most iconic musical collaborations in history, offering fans two opportunities to enjoy the music of these legendary artists.

On November 3rd, Berks County’s own Jill Haley returns to the Miller Center. The celebrated oboist and former National Parks Artist in Residence will present a unique multimedia experience, combining her music with stunning visuals of America’s national parks.

The following evening, November 4th, audiences can dive into the wonders of nature with “National Geographic Live: From Roots to Canopy.” Hosted by tree canopy ecologist and National Geographic Explorer Nalini Nadkarni, this event will explore the hidden worlds above the forest floor, providing a fascinating glimpse into the science and wildlife of treetop ecosystems.

As the holiday season approaches, the Miller Center will light up with “Lightwire Theater Presents: A Very Electric Christmas” on November 30th. This visually stunning performance, which gained national attention on “America’s Got Talent,” uses illuminated puppets, music, and storytelling to create a holiday experience unlike any other.

The season concludes on a festive note with the Grammy-winning Spanish Harlem Orchestra’s “Salsa Navidad” on December 10th. This evening of Latin and salsa music will fill the Miller Center with the vibrant sounds of the holidays, ensuring the season ends on a high note.
