Halloween is just around the corner, and Wyomissing is ready to embrace the spooky season with its BOO’ing Halloween House Decorating Contest. From October 1st through the 27th, residents will be transforming their homes into eerie masterpieces, vying for the title of the most chilling, creative, and spooktacular decorations in town.
The contest invites homeowners to unleash their imaginations and turn their properties into haunted spectacles that would make even the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus jealous. Whether you’re going for a ghostly graveyard, a spine-tingling haunted house, or a wild, radioactive meltdown scene, the competition is all about outdoing your neighbors and grabbing those coveted Halloween bragging rights.
Wyomissing’s Parks and Recreation Department encourages participants to “think big, think bold, and think spooky.” With prizes on the line, residents are encouraged to pull out all the stops, making their houses the talk of the town. From glowing jack-o’-lanterns to cobwebbed corners, and maybe even a lurking goblin or two, the contest is sure to inspire some wicked creativity.
For those who prefer the fun and games of Halloween, the borough’s annual Spooky Hollow Halloween Carnival will also return on Saturday, October 19th at Happy Hollow Playground. This family-friendly event runs from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, featuring carnival games, crafts, a costume contest, and even a showing of Hocus Pocus at sunset. But it’s the house decorating contest that’s capturing the most attention this year, as residents work hard to turn Wyomissing into the ultimate haunted village.
With both events happening this October, the Halloween spirit in Wyomissing is set to reach new heights. Be sure to drive around town to witness the impressive displays, and may the spookiest house win!
