Exeter Township motorcyclist dies after crash with minivan

A 49-year-old Exeter Township man died following a motorcycle crash involving a minivan early Saturday morning, according to the Berks County Coroner’s Office.

Emergency crews were dispatched at 12:11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, to the intersection of St. Lawrence Avenue and Shelbourne Road in Exeter Township for a reported collision involving a motorcycle and a minivan.

The motorcycle operator, identified as Larry Pergola Jr., 49, of Exeter Township, was transported to Reading Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:56 a.m.

The Berks County Coroner’s Office was notified of the fatal crash at 1:30 a.m. by physicians in the hospital’s emergency department.

The coroner’s office said the cause and manner of death remain pending as the investigation continues.

The Berks County Coroner’s Office is investigating the fatality with assistance from the Exeter Township Police Department. No additional information about the circumstances of the crash has been released.
