The Exeter Township Police Department brought smiles and holiday cheer to the community during its annual “Shop with a Cop” event held Wednesday evening at Boscov’s East department store. With the goal of strengthening ties between the police and the community while bringing joy to families in need, the event was a success.
This year’s initiative saw 21 children from the local community, selected through collaboration with nearby schools, given a $200 gift card each to shop for their families. Paired with officers, the children embarked on a joyful shopping spree, selecting thoughtful gifts for their loved ones.
Following the shopping spree, an enchanting after-party unfolded, where the young participants enjoyed pizza, drinks, pretzels, and the chance to get to know the officers on a more personal level.
Lieutenant Sean Fullerton expressed the department’s commitment to giving back beyond law enforcement, stating, “Throughout the year we look for opportunities to give back in other ways besides law enforcement, so this is an opportunity for our guys to make a real difference.”
Highlighting the department’s proactive fundraising efforts, Lt. Fullerton added, “We raise money throughout the year to turn it into a positive event for kids and families in the township. A couple of hundred bucks can go a long way for a family during Christmas time. We’re excited to serve so many families here, and we look forward to doing this every year.”
The Shop with a Cop event not only fostered camaraderie between law enforcement and the community but also demonstrated the department’s dedication to spreading joy and making a meaningful impact during the holiday season.
