Firefighters battle two alarm blaze in Shillington, Coroner called to scene

Firefighters battled a large house fire in Shillington Saturday evening. The fire broke out around 6pm at a home near the intersection of Philadelphia Avenue and Franklin Street in the Borough.

Arriving on scene, firefighters found significant fire from the home and quickly struck a second alarm, calling in several additional fire departments from around the County.

Initial reports suggest a person was possibly trapped on the second floor of the house. As firefighters put out the flames, the State Police Fire Marshal and Coroner were both called to the scene.

Philadelphia Ave was closed to traffic in both directions for several hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
