Gebhard joins Perry Township to celebrate ribbon cutting for new pavilion at Perry Recreation Park

Sen. Chris Gebhard (R-48) joined Perry Township officials and community members today for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of a new pavilion at Perry Recreation Park.

The $136,036 project was fully funded through a state grant supported by Gebhard. Centrally located between the park’s baseball field and playground area, the new pavilion includes a concession stand equipped with a commercial refrigerator, freezer and gas cooktop, as well as picnic tables and a fire suppression system.

“This new pavilion is a great addition to Perry Recreation Park and will benefit families, youth organizations and community groups for years to come,” Gebhard said. “I was proud to support the funding for this project and help bring state dollars back to Perry Township for an investment that strengthens an already important community gathering place.”

“On behalf of the township, we’re excited to see this project come to life and provide our residents with a welcoming new space to gather,” Township Supervisor Lance Adam said. “The pavilion will enhance the park experience for families and community groups alike, and we’re grateful for the support that helped make this improvement possible.”

Perry Recreation Park is a 20-acre community park located in Berks County. It is home to the Perry Township Athletic Association, which supports youth baseball programs for children ages 4 to 12. The park is also used by the Boy Scouts, Lions Club and other community organizations, as well as residents from Perry Township and surrounding municipalities.

The new pavilion will provide an improved gathering space for community events while giving local organizations additional opportunities to host larger events and raise funds to support their programs.

Funding for the project was awarded through Pennsylvania’s statewide Local Share Account program by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which uses proceeds from online gaming revenue to support community projects in the commonwealth.
