Tower Health Revises COVID-19 Visitation Policy

Due to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases, Tower Health has updated the visitor policies at its hospitals. Effective November 27, 2020, no visitors, except those deemed medically necessary, will be allowed. Exceptions may be made only under the circumstances described below.

A patient’s care team will now decide on a case-by-case basis whether having a visitor is clinically appropriate, including when the visitor is a family member supporting the patient by providing care.

All approved visitors will be screened in accordance with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Pennsylvania Department of Health. Tower Health visitor guidelines will be evaluated as the COVID-19 situation evolves and are subject to change based on guidance from the CDC and PA DOH.

“As cases surge in our hospitals and communities we must prioritize the health and safety of our patients and team members” said Debra Powell, MD, Chief, Section of Infectious Disease and Medical Director, Infection Prevention at Reading Hospital.

”As a community we must remain vigilant to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Please continue to wear your mask, wash your hands with soap and water, or alcohol-based sanitizer if soap is not available, and practice social distancing.”
