Video: Media Tour of the Berks County Cares Vaccine Center in Muhlenberg Twp.

County officials hosted a media tour of the new Berks Cares Vaccine Center in Muhlenberg Township Wednesday morning in anticipation of its opening, Monday May 3rd.

Following words from the commissioners, Berks Community Health Center COO, Lindsey Miller, lead the media on a tour of the facility.

Although not a mass vaccination seen across the country, the Berks County Vaccine Center is planning to administer 400 doses of the Moderna vaccine a day during in its opening week.

Miller said the Center has the capacity to handle 1,600 doses a day, with 18 stations that can serve 4 patients at a time.

The Center will have 20 staff members, including several who are bilingual, and up to 5 interpreters.

The center is located in North Reading Plaza (next to Walmart), 5370 Allentown Pike in Muhlenberg Township, and will be open from 9-2pm during its first week of operations.

Vaccinations will be given by appointment only. Residents will be able to sign up for appointments for the week of May 3-7, 2021 at doyourpartberks.com/vaccinecenter. Appointment blocks for the following week will be added on Tuesdays moving forward.

COVID-19 vaccine appointments can also be scheduled through the Berks Cares Vaccine Call Center, 1-888-712-2772, Monday through Friday from 9-5pm.

In addition, BARTA’s regular bus routes #1 and #3, which go to North Reading Plaza, will also be free to all riders starting Monday, May 3.
