Wilson Southern Middle School Temporarily Moves to Remote Learning

Students attending Wilson Southern Middle School will temporarily move to remote learning this week following “positive and presumed positive cases” that have been identified at school.

In a statement sent to parents, Superintendent Richard Faidley says the situation is specific only to Southern Middle School.

“The Wilson School District considers the health and safety of our students, staff, and community to be of the utmost importance. As such, we have been carefully following our Health & Safety Plan that was approved by our School Board and developed for a safe return to school for our staff and students.”

To allow time for contact tracing, the District has shifted classes to full remote for the week, beginning October 26, through October 30.

“At this time, the move to remote learning will ONLY affect Southern Middle School. All other school buildings will be continuing to offer all learning options for students, including 5-day in-person learning (elementary), Hybrid (secondary), Wilson Remote Learning and Wilson Virtual Academy. Therefore, there is NO CHANGE to the student schedule for any Wilson student, with the exception of those attending Southern Middle School.”
