Humane Pennsylvania CEO Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Karel Minor, CEO of Humane Pennsylvania, celebrated his 20th year with the organization earlier this month, making him among the longest-tenured animal welfare leaders in Pennsylvania.

Minor joined the Humane Society of Berks County in 2004. In 2014, he led the merger of the Humane Society of Berks County and the Humane League of Lancaster County to form Humane Pennsylvania. He has over 30 years of professional experience in the animal welfare sector and has served in positions ranging from executive leadership to operations, education, fundraising, and development.

“I think ‘my’ biggest accomplishment since starting with Humane PA has been building a team responsible for ‘our’ accomplishments. One person can’t succeed alone. We have talented, dedicated staff who take their work seriously and know they can make a concrete, positive difference for the animals and people in our community,” Minor said.

Minor is a graduate of West Chester University with a Bachelor’s degree in Earth & Space Science and has served as past board president for the Pennsylvania State Animal Response Team and the Federated Humane Societies of Pennsylvania. He is also a past member of the United States Companion Animal Advisory Committee and other state and national committees and advisory boards.

In addition to his role at Humane PA, Karel is Executive Director of the Humane Pennsylvania Foundation and CEO of Animal Welfare Management Services, LLC., Humane PA’s national consulting company.
