Humane Pennsylvania Chief Veterinary Officer
celebrates 15th Anniversary

Dr. Alicia Simoneau, Chief Veterinary Officer of Humane Pennsylvania, celebrated her 15th year with the organization earlier this month.

Dr. Simoneau is a graduate of Western University of Health Services College of Veterinary Medicine located in Southern California. Before vet school, she attended Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA, attaining a BS in Biology. Her special interests include access to veterinary care initiatives, high-volume spay/neuter, and acupuncture. In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors and attending sporting events with her husband and daughters, and relaxing with her adopted cats, Chihuahua, and horse.

In her 15 years with HPA, she has been instrumental in establishing a veterinary services program that continues to set industry standards. She led Humane Veterinary Hospitals to achieve accreditation from the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) — the first in Pennsylvania—and assisted other facilities in attaining their own accreditation. Additionally, she helped develop our neighborhood Pay What You Can clinics, the Healthy Pets Walk-In Clinic, and an integrated approach to community and shelter medicine, effectively bridging the gap between these two areas for mutual benefit.

Dr. Simoneau said, “Over the years, we’ve refined our mission to provide increasingly comprehensive levels of care. For instance, our Spay/Neuter Clinic (SNC) began in a small trailer with just a few animals, and now we’ve grown significantly from those early days.” She continued, “Additionally, I find the evolution of veterinary medicine to be incredibly exciting. The continuous development of new techniques and treatments offers constant opportunities for learning and growth in our field.”

A celebratory luncheon and fifteen-year service pin presentation were held to celebrate Simoneau’s milestone achievement on Wednesday, August 28 with HPA staff and the board of directors in attendance.
