Humane Pennsylvania seeking pet food donations in response to July 9 flooding

Humane Pennsylvania is seeking help from the community in collecting pet food donations in support of its Spike’s Pet Food Pantry and County Animal Response Team, which provides relief for disasters and emergencies impacting animals and communities in our state and county.

In response to the catastrophic flooding on Sunday, July 9th, Humane Pennsylvania’s County Animal Response Team has joined forces with several state and county agencies and departments on multiple occasions within the last week to serve county residents and pets in need.

Due to these emergency response efforts, HPA’s pet food supply is now running dangerously low and they are accepting donations of unopened wet and dry dog and cat food.

Humane Pennsylvania has contributed pet food, amongst other supplies, to residents with pets that have been affected by the flooding. These efforts ensure that pets and caretakers stay together, even in emergency disaster situations, and prevents caretakers from having to surrender their pet to a shelter during times of hardship.

HPA CART has also provided several Pet Emergency Pallets (PEPs) to the Greater Pennsylvania American Red Cross over the last few months, which come equipped with emergency pet supplies including food, cages, blankets, litterboxes, and more for pets and caretakers in need during emergencies.

To continue providing this support, HPA will need help from the community as well! Please help HPA restock their shelves and make a life-saving donation of wet or dry dog or cat food of any variety. Grab a bag or two while at the grocery store or visit HPA’s Amazon Wish List to send a donation directly to them. Any support is greatly appreciated. Donations can be dropped off or shipped directly to: Freedom Center for Animal Life-Saving – 1801 N. 11th St., Reading, PA 19604. Lancaster Center for Animal Life-Saving – 2195 Lincoln Hwy. E., Lancaster, PA 17602.
