IM ABLE Foundation unveils new IM ABLE Games format to replace this year’s annual Duathlon

The IM ABLE Foundation has announced an exciting new format for its annual event, transitioning from its traditional Duathlon to the all-new IM ABLE Games: Races and Reps on the Runway, Saturday, September 21, 2024.

Previously held every September at Wyomissing Area Junior/Senior High School and Reading Boulevard, the annual Duathlon event has been relocated due to construction on the traditional race route. This year, the IM ABLE Games will take place against the stunning backdrop of vintage planes at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Reading, offering an exhilarating day of fun, fitness, and family-friendly festivities.

The IM ABLE Games will feature a diverse range of activities to cater to all interests and fitness levels. Participants can participate in the 2-Mile Fun Run, Walk, & Roll, an easy course that invites everyone, regardless of their ability, to join in the fun. For those looking for a more competitive challenge, the Sprint Duathlon offers a thrilling race with a 2-mile run, an 8-mile bike ride, and another 2-mile run to finish.

In addition, the event will showcase the Kaaginator Challenge, inspired by IM ABLE Founder and Marine Chris Kaag. This fitness challenge presents a series of functional workout stations and includes divisions such as Kaaginator, Kaaginator Adaptive, Kaaginator Junior, and Kaaginator Masters, providing an opportunity for participants of all skill levels to test their mettle.

For those seeking ultimate recognition, the Trifecta challenge encourages competitors to participate in all three main events—the duathlon, Kaaginator Challenge, and the wing-eating competition. The Klingers Wingers Wing Eating Competition, sponsored by Klingers at the Airport, features a cash prize for the top wing-eater.

This family-friendly event provides entertainment for everyone, from exciting races and unique challenges to craft beers and music. The venue itself, the Reading Regional Airport Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, adds a distinctive touch with its vintage planes and captivating surroundings.

IM ABLE Foundation CEO Alex A. Pilkington expressed his enthusiasm for the event, saying, “We’re incredibly grateful for the tremendous response and support so far from our community. The transition to the IM ABLE Games has been met with such excitement, and it’s a testament to our collective commitment to inclusivity and fun. We’re looking forward to celebrating with everyone and making this event a memorable experience for all.”
