Kutztown University has been selected to be the new home of a military archive collection from the American Revolution, courtesy of the Johannes Schwalm Historical Association.
Rohrbach Library manages the digital collection, which launched in August. The collection is made up of thousands of pages of original documents from the United States, Britain and Germany.
The Johannes Schwalm Historical Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to researching those German auxiliary troops (generically called Hessian) who remained in America after the Revolutionary War, became loyal citizens, made cultural contributions and were the progenitors of any thousands of Americans living today.
Researchers from across the world can now access these digital archives through Kutztown University’s Rohrbach Library at https://research.library.kutztown.edu/schwalm/. Questions can be directed to Dr. Michael Gabriel, department chair, History, at gabriel@kutztown.edu.
