John Paul II Center celebrates Autism Awareness Month with local landscaping company

April is Autism Acceptance Month and John Paul II teamed up with New Castle Lawn & Landscape in a special way to raise awareness about autism.

New Castle Lawn & Landscape asked students of JPII to draw a picture of a garden that makes them feel happy. The picture submissions were then voted on by Facebook followers to decide the winning picture, which was printed on the front of the New Castle employee uniform tee shirts and are being worn throughout the entire month of April.

On Monday, April 24, New Castle and JPII shared the award-winning tee design and shirt with Olyver, the student who designed it along with all of his classmates.

To celebrate the occasion, New Castle Lawn & Landscape held a pizza and ice cream party for the students of JPII. Unbeknownst to Olyver, JPII staff as well as team members of New Castle Lawn & Landscape attended wearing Olyver’s tee!

Located in Shillington, John Paul II Center for Special Learning encourages children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to explore their purpose and reach for goals through unique special education and social programming.
