The Board of Directors of the LGBT Center of Greater Reading announced Thursday the appointment of Laura Biancone to the role of Interim Executive Director.
As Interim ED, Biancone will be responsible for leading and guiding all aspects of the organization’s critical functions including board relations, philanthropy, staff development, client services, and community advocacy, as well as partnering with key community leaders and partners to further integrate the LGBT Center as a force for change, equity, and inclusion at the local, state and national levels.
According to LGBT Center Board Chair, Anita Matson, “The Board is thrilled to name Laura as our interim Executive Director. She is very familiar with our daily operations and strategic goals, having served most recently as a key leader in the Center’s advocacy outreach, and is passionate in her unwavering support to drive positive change and help all feel included and accepted. Laura proudly acknowledges being the mom of an LGBT child and champions the rights for the dignity of all individuals.”
Biancone is currently pursuing her degree in social work from Millersville and is a recognized change advocate for LGBT rights.
According to Biancone, “I want people to know that I am a fierce advocate for the marginalized and feel so fortunate to be surrounded by an exceptional group of people at the Center (Staff, Board, Regional Leaders, and Community Supporters).”
