New Reading-Pagoda sign unveiled with 800 Penn Street Courtyard rehabilitation

The City of Reading celebrated the completion of the 800 Penn Street Courtyard rehabilitation project in Downtown Reading Monday morning with a small dedication ceremony.

The project, which began in March of 2023 included the addition of native trees, benches for limited gatherings, stamped concrete for ADA and commerce, and a new iconic “READING” sign for tourist appeal.

“The transformation of this courtyard was not just a simple upgrade, but a thoughtful project designed to address various remodeling related concerns” said Mayor Moran during the ceremony.

The courtyard rehabilitation project was completed at a cost of $815,000 and was constructed by Depaul and Company. The Reading-Pagoda sign was installed by Signature Signs at a cost of nearly $50,000.
