Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County (BCSS) has announced that Karin Allmendinger and Katia Botelho have joined the BCSS team. Karin has been named Development Associate, and Katia has been named Marketing & Communications Coordinator. The Board of Directors, staff members, and volunteers warmly welcome Karin and Katia to the BCSS family.
In her new role as Development Associate, Karin will oversee and manage the donor database, track and acknowledge gifts, serve as the staff liaison for third-party fundraisers, and assist the Fund Development & Marketing Committee with various responsibilities. She will also work closely with the Executive Director on grant writing, major gifts, sponsorships, and communications.
Karin grew up in the Lehigh Valley and settled in Berks County after attending Wittenberg University in Ohio and working in college admissions in Massachusetts. Her professional career has been rooted in the nonprofit sector, beginning in higher education and later transitioning to human services, where she developed strong skills in relationship building and marketing. Her long-term commitment as a board member of a local YMCA camp provided valuable experience in fundraising and leadership.
Karin was drawn to BCSS because of its meaningful mission and the opportunity to continue serving the Berks County community. She and her partner, Michele, live in Sinking Spring and enjoy spending time with their grown children and visiting with friends. Karin can often be found behind the lens of her camera or enjoying the outdoors.
In Katia’s new role as Marketing & Communications Coordinator, she will design marketing and promotional materials, assist with social media content and scheduling, provide program and event support, oversee photography and videography, and manage BCSS’s content and video library.
Katia was born and raised in Muhlenberg Township and is currently attending Alvernia University, where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in marketing with an additional focus in psychology. She is grateful for the opportunity to work at BCSS and make a positive impact within the community.
Katia looks forward to helping individuals navigate their breast cancer journey with compassion and support. As Marketing & Communications Coordinator, she is excited to use her creativity and voice to amplify survivor stories, engage the community, and strengthen awareness of BCSS’s mission and services.
The Board of Directors and staff congratulate Karin and Katia on their new positions and proudly welcome them to the BCSS team.
Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County is a survivor-driven organization that provides hope, emotional support, education, and resources to every person affected by breast cancer.
