The Reading Public Library Foundation has announced that their fourteenth annual “Cocktails & Classics” raised a grand total of over $135,000 this past Friday evening.
Director of Advancement and Communication, Carolyn Shultz Spano, says the event drew in over 330 guests at the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading.
Remarkably, the evening’s Fund-A-Need raised $8,500 for the expansion of RPL’s digital collection, a significant need for the institution since digital materials have increasingly been on the rise.
“These donations will make a great impact on our ability to meet our community’s diverse need for digital materials, which cost 5x more than a physical book and need to be repurchased every two years,” Shultz Spano explained.
Although the fundraiser is over, there is still time to support RPL’s digital collection expansion. The Foundation accepts cash, checks, or online gifts. More information can be found at rplfoundation.org.
The Reading Public Library Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to empowering the City of Reading to explore, learn, and thrive through access to information.
