Dave Myers to join Berks County Community Foundation as Senior Fellow

Berks County Community Foundation has announced the addition of a new team member, Dave Myers. Dave is joining the organization as a Senior Fellow.

In this role, Myers will coordinate a series of programs featuring organizations and initiatives that have the potential to impact the community. These community forums will take place monthly via Zoom and/or in person and will feature speakers and panelists with expertise on the subject matter.

Before joining the Foundation, Myers served as the Executive Director of the Berks Alliance, a collaboration of the anchor institutions in Berks County, formed to serve as a catalyst for community development. During his time with Berks Alliance, Dave proved that community forums are engaging opportunities for the residents of our region.

Myers was the founding Director of the O’Pake Institute for Ethics, Leadership and Public Service at Alvernia University. The O’Pake Institute partnered with the Community Foundation to launch a series of nationally recognized Vital Signs reports about Berks County. A resident of Reading for the past 12 years, he has served with several community organizations, including BCTV and Reading School Board, the Reading Muhlenberg CTC Board, the Reading Public Museum, and Tec Centro Berks. 

“We are excited to welcome Dave to our team,” said Kevin Murphy, President of Berks County Community Foundation. “His background and connections will enhance the initiative work we are doing and provide possible solutions for issues in the community.”

Before moving to Reading, Myers served as the Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Board at Bucknell University. He has held several senior leadership positions in the Pennsylvania state government, including Deputy Chief of Staff and Special Assistant for two of Pennsylvania’s governors. He served as a Deputy Secretary for two state agencies and as the Deputy Executive Director of a statewide healthcare association. 

Over his career, he has served on numerous local, county and state boards, including another local school board and an area vocational-technical school, a hospital board, two planning commissions, and the boards of a local community college and the state system of higher education.
