Hamburg receives $40K grant from T-Mobile for State Street Square Project

The Our Town Foundation in Hamburg received a $40,000 grant from T-Mobile as one of the company’s 25 new Hometown Grant recipients. The announcement was made Friday afternoon during a check presentation ceremony at the State Street Square Project lot at 222 State Street.

The cash infusion will help towards the construction of a nearly 3,000 square foot multi-purpose facility in the downtown Hamburg business district, including a covered stage, kitchen area with two concession windows, public restrooms, and off-street parking lot, for the community to use as a hub for live performances and other family-oriented activities.

“We are extremely grateful to T-Mobile for this generous grant which will bring us one step closer in completing our State Street Square Development project. When completed, this project will provide a community gathering place that will engage our residents while spurring economic vitality for the downtown businesses” said Deena Kershner, Executive Director, Our Town Foundation/Hamburg (PA) Area Arts Alliance.

Hamburg is the 13th town in Pennsylvania to receive a T-Mobile Hometown Grant. Some of the other towns to receive grants include Kutztown, Lock Haven, Pittston, and South Fayette Township. T-Mobile has given grants totaling more than $400,000 in hometown grants across Pennsylvania.
