Leadership Berks Program seeking nonprofit service project proposals

Leadership Berks, a program of the United Way of Berks County, is seeking proposals from Berks County’s non-profit organizations for consideration as a Service Project for the 2024-25 Leadership Berks class. The application form can be found at uwberks.org and includes details around the timeline and requirements from the non-profit, as well as the project description and related information.

In addition to participating in the nine-month program to build community leadership skills and knowledge about Berks County, all class members are required to participate in a service project. These projects are designed to be a leadership learning experience for the participants and a meaningful benefit to the non-profit.

Project proposals should be designed with the understanding that the Leadership Berks class is comprised of talented and professionally qualified individuals with different skills and experiences who will work together to assist local organizations create solutions to current needs.

Projects completed by the recent class included refreshing websites, creating a new volunteer recruitment strategy, and designing a racial equity survey. Critical to the success of the project is ensuring a project liaison is selected who will be available and has the time to dedicate to the service project team. Deadline for all proposal submissions is Friday, August 9.

Leadership Berks trains and develops individuals to serve in nonprofit leadership roles within Berks County. The experiential program expands the candidate’s professional and community leadership skills, and it is highly valued by Berks County employers, recognizing the increased skills and experiences gained by graduates. The curriculum is delivered over a 7-month period and is taught by business and community leaders, along with content expert instructors. The 2024 program recently graduated 32 individuals.
