The United Way of Berks County celebrated their partners and supporters Thursday morning with ‘Celebrate United’, a live virtual event which highlighted the organizations community mission and announced the award recipients of the 2021 Wilbur H. Doran Award.
United Way of Berks County is a nonprofit organization serving more than 150,000 people in Berks.
Centered around four focus areas, more than 80 programs at 35 agency partners help kids become better readers through the Ready.Set.READ! initiative, offer grants to a wide variety of organizations, provide initiatives like the Volunteer Center, 211 and SingleCare (formerly FamilyWize), and serve as a community convener, bringing together people and organizations around community needs.
Last year, more than $11 million was raised to support community needs and to invest in high performing, high priority programs.
