Reading Area Water Authority has issued a boil water advisory for parts of Northeast Reading Saturday evening. Around 5pm, a water main break was discovered on Hampden Boulevard near Rockland Avenue.
According to RAWA, the break affects customers on Hampden Boulevard from city line Avenue to reservoir Road to the area of Hampden Boulevard to North 17th Street. A boil water advisory has been issued for the area.
RAWA is on scene repairing the water main. Crews have restricted traffic on the southbound lane of Hampden Boulevard to make repairs.
UPDATE 8pm 7/27/19 – Reading Area Water Authority has completed the water main repair on Hampton Blvd and service has been restored to those affected. The boil water advisory is still in effect. RAWA will sample the water and once complete the notice will be lifted.
UPDATE 8am 7/30/2019 – Reading Area Water Authority reports the Boil Water notice has been lifted for the Northeast Area of the city.
