Photos: Drivers push their vehicles to the limit in 2022 Duryea Hillclimb

Dozens of drivers from as far away as Michigan competed in the 2022 Duryea Hillclimb this year. The annual 2.2 mile race takes competitors on an uphill course from 13th Street near City Park, up Duryea Drive past the Pagoda, finishing in front of the William Penn Memorial Fire Tower on Skyline Drive.

The event, which was first run in 1951, is part of the Pennsylvania Hillclimb Association Championship Series. It’s sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America and hosted by the local chapter, Blue Mountain Region SCCA. It’s been run every year since, except for 1979 (gas crisis) and 2020 (COVID-19).
