RAWA issues mandatory water conservation notice in North Heidelberg

Update: RAWA has reported that the leak was found and the notice has been lifted. Original Article: The Reading Area Water Authority has issued an urgent message to those who receive water service through the North Heidelberg Water System.

According to RAWA, a leak in the system, which they cannot locate, is causing the water level of the storage tank to drop.

RAWA is asking residents to check their property for any leaks, or any unexplained puddling or running of water, and to contact the Authority for any properties that maybe vacant.

A mandatory water conservation notice has been posted for the immediate suspension of all water consumption between the hours of Midnight and 5am and to minimize usage throughout the remaining hours of the day.

RAWA says if conservation efforts are unsuccessful, customers will experience interruptions in water service.

Reading Area Water Authority is working in conjunction with DEP, County Officials, Local Officials and Engineers to resolve this current emergency.

RAWA says it will distribute information through the Swift Reach System as it becomes available.
