Reading Extending Closure of City Hall Through January 4th

Mayor of Reading Eddie Morán is extending the closure of City Hall through January 4, 2021, in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

“With the holiday season upon us, we are fortunate to continue counting our blessings during these unprecedented times” said Mayor Morán.

“However, we haven’t stopped monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely. Yesterday was a sad day in our nation as we set a new record for deaths since the pandemic started. Here in Berks County, the Pennsylvania Health Department confirms that cases continue to rise, hospitals are close to reaching their threshold, and community spread is at its highest level.”

All employees, except for essential workers, will continue to work from home.

“I take this moment to thank all City employees for their discipline while teleworking, ensuring that the residents of Reading receive the quality of services they deserve and thank our essential workers for going above and beyond to keep us healthy and safe.”
