The City of Reading Department of Fire and Rescue Services has been awarded more than $80,000 in state funding to purchase critical equipment that supports emergency response operations.
State Rep. Manny Guzman, D-Berks, announced Monday that the department received an $80,810 Emergency Training Center Capital Grant, administered by the Pennsylvania Office of State Fire Commissioner.
According to Guzman’s office, the funding will be used to acquire critical breathing air system components for the department.
“I am proud to help secure this investment for the City of Reading’s Department of Fire and Rescue Services, which will strengthen public safety and support the critical work of our first responders,” Guzman said.
“These grant funds will help purchase essential equipment needed to enhance emergency response capabilities. One of my top priorities is connecting Reading with the funding and resources needed to thrive, and I will continue advocating to bring these important investments back to our community.”
The Emergency Training Center Capital Grant program provides funding for equipment and capital improvements that support fire and emergency response organizations across Pennsylvania.
