Reading Public Library named John H. Gallen Jr Campaign Chair of Annual Appeal

Reading Public Library has announced that John H. Gallen Jr. has been named as the Campaign Chair of the institution’s 2023 Annual Appeal. Gallen is the owner of Ethosource Office Furniture. Part of the Ethosource mission is to “Give where we live” and the company is passionate about giving to local non-profits that provide important community services.

He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of The Caron Foundation and Alvernia University. He has also served on the board of the Reading YMCA, and is Past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Greater Reading Economic Partnership.

He stated the following as his reason for serving as Chair of the Annual Appeal, “The Reading Public Library is about so much more than books. It’s a safe and welcoming place with free programs and activities for people of all ages. Young people learn about creative writing and healthy eating. Teens enjoy ‘Pizza and Pages’ and ‘Mindfulness Moments.’ Adults use free computers and outside internet access for job applications, research, and telemedicine. The library is vital to our community and worthy of our support.”

The goal for the 2023 campaign is $48,000. Among other things, income from the library’s Annual Appeal will support library staff who bring S.T.E.M activities to city children, career training to teens, and telehealth training and access to our community’s seniors.

According to Linda Capozello, the library’s Director of Advancement, “We are very pleased that someone with John’s commitment to our community has agreed to chair this important annual campaign. His belief in the importance of our work and the role of private donations to help fund it is gratifying.”
