Reading Temporarily Moves Trash Pickup Earlier due to Excessive Heat

Due to the excessive heat expected this week and the concern for worker safety, City Officials have decided to waive the 6:00 am start time for solid waste collection.

In a statement issued by Steven Harriet, Reading Public Works Solid Waste Division Manager, the Mayor or Managing Director has the right to waive this rule for interest in worker safety.

This allows City Solid Waste and Recycling collection workers and private haulers to begin collection at 5:00 am on Tuesday, August 24th through Friday, August 27th.
