Students will be able to receive free school supplies on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Organizers said the event will also include free food, snacks, refreshments and fresh fruit, as well as complimentary haircuts and hairstyling services provided by local barbers and stylists.

Families attending the event will also have access to free vision screenings, and community organizations will be available to share information about local and state resources.

Free parking will be available from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Reading Parking Authority’s 6th and Cherry Street parking lot.

“Every child deserves to start the school year with confidence and the tools they need to succeed,” Mayor Eddie Morán said. “For the fifth year, we’re bringing our community together to support Reading families by providing essential supplies, free services, and resources that can make a real difference. I’m grateful to Representative Guzman and all of our partners who continue to make this event possible and invest in the future of our children.”

Guzman said the annual event has continued to expand its impact on the community.

“I’m proud to see this event continue to grow and make a greater impact in our community,” Guzman said. “By partnering with Mayor Eddie Moran, we are working together to ensure underserved families have the resources they need to help their children start the school year prepared for success. This year’s Back-to-School Giveaway is bigger and better than ever, and I look forward to bringing families together and providing immediate support to students across our community.”
