The Reading Area Water Authority is currently repairing a 24″ water main break in the 2500 Block Pottsville Pike (Route 61) in Muhlenberg Township.
The break happened Sunday morning around 8am. According to RAWA, approximately 3,000 customers may have experienced low to no water pressure when the main broke.
RAWA officials say the main break was isolated soon after it was reported and water has since been restored to the city.
A boil water advisory has been issued for customers affected, who were notified via a Swiftreach broadcast.
Route 61 northbound between Route 12 and Hartman Road is expected to be closed for an extended amount of time while crews make repairs.
