The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has posted an updated list of recent Retail Food Inspection Reports for restaurants and food handlers in Berks County. Inspections are a “snapshot” of the day and time of the inspection. Violations are recorded but are often corrected on the spot prior to the inspector leaving the facility. On 6/4/2026, Stoltzfus Luncheonette, located at 845 B Woodland Rd, Wyomissing, PA 19610, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed wet wiping cloths at the sandwich bain marie and front counter not being stored in sanitizer solution.

On 6/4/2026, Midtown, located at 600 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA 19611, was inspected and found with the following violation: Facility does not have a method to verify the final rinse temperature of the hot water sanitizing dishwasher. Owner ordered temperature strips during this inspection.

On 6/4/2026, Hong Thanh Restaurant, located at 22 N 6th St, Reading, PA 19601, was inspected and found with the following violation: Raw Food in the refrigerated area stored open with no covering. Mops are not being hung to air dry. Potentially hazardous ready-to-eat food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 48 hours, located in the Refrigerator, is not being date marked.

On 6/4/2026, Becca’s Gourmet Coffee & Donuts, located at 845 B Woodland Rd, Wyomissing, PA 19610, was inspected and found with the following violation: Some spatulas located in kitchen area are chipped and are not in good repair or condition. Half gallons of prepared iced coffee are not labeled with an ingredient statement.

On 6/5/2026, Pioneer Hose Company #1, located at 32 W Penn Ave, Robesonia, PA 19551, was inspected and found with the following violation: Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration at the dishwasher (chlorine-based sanitizer).

On 6/8/2026, Walmart Supercenter #4612, located at 1800 Tilden Ridge Dr, Hamburg, PA 19526, was inspected and found with the following violation: Two deli cases were observed with broken thermometers. Please replace. 11 excessively dented, canned items observed on the retail sales floor are and intended for use or sale in the food facility. Corrected, removed from shelves. 5- 1-gallon containers of Guers chocolate milk were observed with a sell by date of June 7, 2026, and were in the reach in cooler on the sales floor. Corrected.

On 6/8/2026, Hamburg Diner, located at 210 State St, Hamburg, PA 19526, was inspected and found with the following violation: Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in all cold hold units, is not being date marked. Cooked potatoes were held at 95 °F, in the cookline area, rather than 135°F or above as required. Please reheat to 165°F and either store in hot hold unit or cool and put in the refrigerator. Corrected. The handwash sink in the dish/prep area does not have single use towels, continuous towels, or air-drying device. The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. The quaternary ammonia concentration in the sanitizing solution of the 3-bay ware wash sink was 0 ppm, rather than 150-400 ppm as stated on the manufacturers use directions. Please hand mix chlorine sanitizer to 50-100 ppm as determined by your test strips until your sanitizer system is repaired. Chlorine chemical sanitizer residual detected in the final sanitizer rinse cycle of the low temperature sanitizing dishwasher was 0 ppm, and not 50-100 ppm as required. Dishes must be sanitized in the 3 bay sink until repairs are made on the dish machine. The handwash sink in the dish/prep area was blocked by a bottle oof dish detergent and not accessible at all times for employee use. Corrected. Non-food contact surfaces of the shelf below the grill is not being cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. Mops are not being hung to air dry. Corrected. Floor ties in the dish/prep area are missing leaving the wood below exposed and wood is not smooth, non-porous, non-absorbent. Please replace missing floor tiles. Floor below and behind the grill and fryer area of the food facility is observed with excessive food debris and in need of cleaning. Please increase the frequency that this area is cleaned.

On 6/8/2026, China House, located at 825 Main St, Bally, PA 19503, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required. The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. Observed plastic grocery bags being used to store food products in the freezers in the facility. Food employees observed in the cookline area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, and/or beard covers. Observed handwash sink in the cookline area was not operational during this inspection. Facility is using the handwash sink in the ware washing area. Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the walk-in-cooler and refrigerators, is not being date marked. Observed various food products stored directly on the floor throughout the facility, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. An insect control device (fly tape) located in the prep area with potential to contaminate food, equipment, and / or utensils.

On 6/9/2026, Washington Grille & Pub, located at 1063 Route 100, Bechtelsville, PA 19505, was inspected and found with the following violation: Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not functioning properly in one of the cold prep refrigeration units. Sink stoppers not observed to properly fill the 3-bay sink. Drain observed plugged with a cloth rather than a sink stopper.

On 6/9/2026, Turkey Hill Minit Market #051, located at 133 W Main St, Fleetwood, PA 19522, was inspected and found with the following violation: 2 Gallons of Turkey Hill reduced fat 2% milk dated 6/8/26 were observed in the reach in cooler on the sales floor. Corrected.

On 6/9/2026, Sheetz #247, located at 14350 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, PA 19522, was inspected and found with the following violation: Food contact surface of plastic scoop is not smooth, easily cleanable and/or resistant to peeling, cracking or scratching. Corrected. Several cappuccino plastic food ingredient storage containers, in the coffee self service area, is not labeled with the common name of the food. Observed single-service, single-use articles stored in dry storage area directly on the floor, and not 6 inches above the floor. Corrected.

On 6/9/2026, Michael’s Restaurant, located at 1211 W Benjamin Franklin Hwy, Douglassville, PA 19518, was inspected and found with the following violation: The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. Observed food stored on the same shelves as paint and tools. Corrected. Raw animal foods were stored above ready to eat foods in the walk-in freezer. Corrected. Multiple foods in the refrigerators stored open with no covering. Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the walk-in cooler, is not being date marked. Observed a wire fry basket to be fraying and in need of disposal. Corrected. Cooked bacon stored on cardboard, an unapproved food contact surface, on the cookline. Corrected. Observed cheese stored in the refrigerator that was contaminated by raw animal food and was unclean. Corrected. Observed an apparent mold build up on the nonfood contact surfaces of ice machines. Observed cookline equipment, to have an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, debris on non-food contact surfaces. Observed cooking equipment / pans, in the dry storage area, with encrusted grease and soil accumulation. Corrected. Interior of microwave by the toast line observed to have a buildup of old food debris and the smaller stand mixer in back observed to have old food debris build up. Mixer equipment bearing or gear box is dripping or leaking lubricant onto the food-contact surface. Corrected. Food was held at 54.8°F, in the walk-in cooler area, rather than 41°F or below as required. An insect control device located throughout the kitchen area with potential to contaminate food, equipment, and / or utensils. Corrected. Shelving, throughout the kitchen area, has non-food contact surfaces exposed to splash, spillage, or other food soiling, is covered with cardboard, an absorbent material. Also observed a piece of wood on the grill on the cookline.

On 6/9/2026, Little Oley Tavern, located at 2068 Farmington Ave, Boyertown, PA 19512, was inspected and found with the following violation: Location was listed as out of compliance. Food facility hot water heater is not producing enough hot water to supply ware washing sink at the time of this inspection. Food facility does not have a three-compartment sink for manual warewashing.

On 6/9/2026, Burts Farms, located at 1110 Route 100, Bechtelsville, PA 19505, was inspected and found with the following violation: Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in the walk-in cooler. Condensate observed dripping in the walk-in cooler. Food facility is using an approved non-public water system, but does not have current laboratory testing results for water potability. Debris observed along floor perimeters in the prep areas; in need of cleaning.

On 6/9/2026, Boyer’s Food Market #3596, located at 200 First St, Suite 3, Birdsboro, PA 19508, was inspected and found with the following violation: A few food items were held at 60 °F, in the cold-hold display unit by the registers, rather than 41°F or below as required. Corrected by moving products to a different refrigeration unit. Facility called for service for this unit.

On 6/10/2026, The Veggie Sisters, located at Leesport Market, Leesport, PA 19533, was inspected and found with the following violation: Plumbing system not maintained in good repair – observed water leaking at a plumbing connection outside the back of the stand.

On 6/10/2026, Tropical Latin Cuisine, located at Leesport Farmers Market, Leesport, PA 19533, was inspected and found with the following violation: Food facility has an employee that has taken food safety training program; however, the food safety program was not an ANSI/CFP accredited Certified Food Manager program. Owner has a Food Handler certificate, not a Food Manager certificate.

On 6/10/2026, The White Magnolia Coffee Co., located at 429 Frystown Rd, Myerstown, PA 17067, was inspected and found with the following violation: The wall above the grill was observed with buildup of debris. Please increase the frequency of cleaning to avoid build up.

On 6/10/2026, Russo’s Family Restaurant Inc., located at 2 S 4th St, Hamburg, PA 19526, was inspected and found with the following violation: One fryer basket was observed with broken wires. Please repair or replace.

On 6/10/2026, Heidelberg Family Restaurant Inc., located at 910 W Penn Ave, Robesonia, PA 19551, was inspected and found with the following violation: Shelf below the grill, non-food contact surface is not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of food debris. Please increase the frequency of cleaning of this shelf too avoid build up.
