Inspections are a “snapshot” of the day and time of the inspection. Violations are recorded but are often corrected on the spot prior to the inspector leaving the facility. On November 22, 2024, Trooper Thorns, located at 451 Morgantown Rd, Reading, PA 19611, was inspected and found with the following violations: Potentially hazardous ready-to-eat food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 48 hours, located in the cooler, is not being date marked. Posted Serv Safe is expired. Observed cardboard being utilized as a floor covering where the ice machine is. The ice machine is leaking. Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the bar area.
On November 22, 2024, Soft Pretzel Corner, located at 845 B Woodland Rd, Wyomissing, PA 19610, was inspected and found with the following violation: Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration.
On November 22, 2024, Salads & Desserts at Smuckers, located at 845 B Woodland Rd, Wyomissing, PA 19610, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food contact surface of a plastic spatula is not smooth, easily cleanable and/or resistant to pitting, cracking or scratching. Corrected. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. Food facility has an employee who held a Certified Food Manager certificate; however, the certificate has expired and is no longer valid. Cold water handle at the handwash sink is broken.
On November 22, 2024, Pioneer Hose Company #1, located at 32 W Penn Ave, Robesonia, PA 19551, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. Chlorine chemical sanitizer residual detected in the final sanitizer rinse cycle of the low temperature sanitizing dishwasher was 0 ppm, and not 50-100 ppm as required. Floor under and around the fryers of the food facility is observed with excessive grease build up and in need of cleaning.
On November 22, 2024, Oley Inn on Main, located at 401 Main St, Oley, PA 19547, was inspected and found with the following violations: Facility does not have a method to verify the final rinse temperature for the hot water sanitizing dishwasher. There is an accumulation of old food debris and other items on the floor under equipment in the kitchen. Plumbing system not maintained in good repair – observed multiple bowls being used to collect water from a leaking pipe in the basement. Door leading from the kitchen to the outside patio area has a gap at the bottom due to a damaged bottom seal and does not protect against the entry of pests.
On November 22, 2024, Macoris Mini Market, located at 300 S 6th St, Reading, PA 19602, was inspected and found with the following violations: Prepared hot foods not received at proper temperature, hot held at 135°F or above. RTE food was held at 112 °F, rather than 135°F or above as required. Commercially processed ready to eat food, located in the cooler, and held more than 48 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened. Temperature measuring devices for ensuring proper temperatures in refrigerated / hot holding equipment, in * area, is not located to measure the warmest part of the equipment. Old food residue, dishes and utensils observed in the handwash sink, indicating uses other than handwashing. Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink. Soap was not available at the handwash sink. Live animal observed on the premise of the food facility.
On November 22, 2024, Fisher’s BBQ, located at 845 B Woodland Rd, Wyomissing, PA 19610, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food contact surface of two rubber spatulas is not smooth, easily cleanable and/or resistant to pitting, cracking or scratching. Corrected. Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in the refrigerator equipment holding raw chicken by three bay sink. A working container of bleach cleaner was stored above or on the same shelf with food in the dish/prep area. Corrected.
On November 22, 2024, El Reencuentro Restaurant, located at 356 S 4th St, Reading, PA 19602, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food in the freezer not wrapped properly to prevent freezer burn. Ready to Eat food was held at 106 °F, in the steam table area, rather than 135°F or above as required. Potentially hazardous ready-to-eat food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 48 hours, located in the cooler, is not being date marked.
On November 22, 2024, DeCarlo’s Bar & Grill, located at 240 Penn St, Reading, PA 19602, was inspected and found with the following violation: Cooler beer being held in has water all in the bottom.
On November 22, 2024, Beaver Dam Produce, located at 845 B Woodland Rd, Wyomissing, PA 19610, was inspected and found with the following violation: Food contact surface of a rubber spatula is not smooth, easily cleanable and/or resistant to pitting, cracking or scratching. Corrected.
On November 23, 2024, Tlacuani Mexican Restaurant, located at 5005 Kutztown Rd, Temple, PA 19560, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food was held at 45.3°F, in the Habco reach-in refrigerator rather than 41°F or below as required. All items transferred to alternate refrigerator until refrigerator repaired. Ice bin/container must be stored inverted to allow air drying and prevent contamination. A working container of cleaner was stored above or on the same shelf with food in the back storage area. Corrected on inspection.
On November 23, 2024, Sizzling Island, located at 2934 N 5th Street Hwy, Reading, PA 19605, was inspected and found with the following violations: Observed equipment being washed and rinsed but not sanitized while using 3 compartment sink. Handwashing soap was not available at the handwash sink. Dishwashing soap available for temporary use.
On November 23, 2024, Mega Shop, located at 427 Water St, Temple, PA 19560, was inspected and found with the following violation: Handwashing signage “Employee Must Wash Hands before Returning to Work” required in rest rooms.
On November 23, 2024, Infinito’s Pizza Buffet, located at 3023 N 5th St, Reading, PA 19605, was inspected and found with the following violations: Ice machine interior panel soiled. Cutting boards (2) stained. Additional hooks needed for storage of cleaning tools.
On November 23, 2024, China House, located at 3215 N 5th Street HWY Ste 6, Reading, PA 19605, was inspected and found with the following violations: Interior/lower section of bain marie is soiled at door gasket areas. Floor in front cooking area is soiled. Lids/exterior of bulk food bins soiled.
On November 26, 2024, Julie’s Restaurant, located at 4850 Penn Ave, Sinking Spring, PA 19608, was inspected and found with the following violations: Fryer basket was observed with a broken wire. This item is not smooth and easily cleanable. Ceiling vent above prep area is extremely dusty, and in need of cleaning. Several spray bottles at the front counter and mop sink area, used for storing chemicals, cleaners taken from bulk supplies, were not marked with the common name of the chemical. Corrected.

On November 26, 2024, City Girl Juice, located at 18 State Hill Rd, Wyomissing, PA 19610, was inspected and found with the following violations: Soap was not available at the handwash sink in the prep area. Corrected. No sign or poster posted at the handwash sink in the unisex/employee restroom area to remind food employees to wash their hands.
On November 29, 2024, Sunnyside Pastries, located at 2934 N 5th Street HWY, Reading, PA 19605, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food dispensing utensil in bulk sugar/bulk potato flakes observed stored in the food and not with handle above the top of the food. Corrected on inspection. Exterior surface, including lid and handles, of round white bulk storage bin, is soiled.
On November 30, 2024, Reading Hotels, LLC, located at 2200 Stacey Dr, Reading, PA 19605, was inspected and found with the following violation: Overhead light fixture in kitchenette was dusty/uncovered. Bulb must be shatterproof or light cover in place.
On December 3, 2024, Washington Elementary School, located at 1406 Route 100, Barto, PA 19504, was inspected and found with the following violation: Severely dented, swollen, distressed canned items observed in the storage area intended for use or sale in the food facility.
On December 3, 2024, Vincenzo’s Ristorante Italiano & Pizzeria, located at 1333 Old Swede Rd, Douglassville, PA 19518, was inspected and found with the following violations: Observed in-use knives and /or cleavers stored between table edges or between tables, an area not easily cleanable & sanitized. Corrected. Observed multiple food items stored directly on the floor in the two walk-in coolers and walk-in freezers area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Corrected. Multiple refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the upstairs and downstairs walk-in coolers, is not being date marked. The interior surfaces of the ice machine, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. Old food residue, dishes and utensils observed in the handwash sink, indicating uses other than handwashing. Corrected.
On December 3, 2024, Starbucks #9537, located at 2113 State Hill Rd, Wyomissing, PA 19610, was inspected and found with the following violations: The food facility does not have the original certificate for the certified food employee posted in public view. Floor in dish area observed with standing water. Advised to keep floors dry to avoid pest harborage conditions.
On December 3, 2024, A Plus Sunoco (7-Eleven), located at 624 N Park Rd, Wyomissing, PA 19610, was inspected and found with the following violations: Observed trash and a liquid spill on the floor under the milk/tea display shelves in the walk-in cooler. Food facility has an employee who held a Certified Food Manager certificate; however, the certificate has expired and is no longer valid.
On December 4, 2024, Residence Inn by Marriott Reading, located at 45 Berkshire Ct, Wyomissing, PA 19610, was inspected and found with the following violation: Ceiling above the microwave and fryers was observed with excessive dust build up around the vent.
