Food facility inspection indicates evidence of rodent activity: Restaurant Inspections, Sept. 17, 2026

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has posted an updated list of recent Retail Food Inspection Reports for restaurants and food handlers in Berks County. Inspections are a “snapshot” of the day and time of the inspection. Violations are recorded but are often corrected on the spot prior to the inspector leaving the facility. On 9/9/2026, Bixler’s Country Meats, located at Leesport Farmers Market, Leesport, PA 19533, was inspected and found with the following violation: A light bulb in one of the display cases is missing the protective plastic tubing/end caps.

On 9/9/2026, Birdsboro Mart, located at 6600 Perkiomen Ave., Birdsboro, PA 19508, was inspected and found with the following violations: The Person in Charge does not have adequate control of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this repeat non-compliant inspection. The handwash sink in the back sink area was still blocked by clutter on the floor and was not accessible at all times for employee use. The handwash sinks located in the front kitchen, back sink, and restroom areas still do not have water at a temperature of at least 85°F. The water temperature at the wash compartment of the 3-compartment manual warewashing sink in the back room was 77°F, rather than not less than 110°F, as required. Unused equipment stored in the 3-compartment sink area and the back room near the walk-in cooler should be removed from the food facility. Plumbing system not maintained in good repair – observed water still leaking at one of the handwash sinks in the restroom. There is still an accumulation of dirt/debris/residue on the floor and counters in the kitchen area behind the drink counter and on the floor in the back room by the walk-in cooler. Food facility inspection indicates evidence of rodent activity. Facility may need to increase the frequency of their pest control program. Potential rodent harborage areas inside the food facility observed in the area outside the walk-in cooler and the back sink room due to clutter.

On 9/10/2026, Pine Forge Academy (HS), located at 361 Pine Forge Rd., Boyertown, PA 19512, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required. Flour storage container, in the prep area, is not labeled with the common name of the food.

On 9/11/2026, VSR Beverage LLC, located at 110 Moreview Blvd., Suite 2, Morgantown, PA 19543, was inspected and found with the following violation: Women’s toilet room is not provided with a covered waste receptacle for sanitary napkins.

On 9/11/2026, Good Friend Chinese Restaurant, located at 206 Crossings Blvd., Elverson, PA 19520, was inspected and found with the following violation: Facility is using carboard on shelving in walk-in cooler. Cardboard is not an easily cleanable and non-absorbent material. Air vents in front area are extremely dusty and need to be changed.

On 9/11/2026, Dunkin, located at 1123 Ben Franklin Hwy., Douglassville, PA 19518, was inspected and found with the following violation: Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. Scoop being stored in the ice machine with handle touching and/or buried beneath the ice. Corrected. Loose or broken door hinges observed on the small refrigerator by the donut case causing the door to not seal properly. Observed 14 milks (chocolate & whole) offered for sale in the self-serve case past the manufacturer’s sell by date. Corrected.

On 9/11/2026, CI Hamburg Superstore Lounge, located at 1635 Mountain Rd., Hamburg, PA 19526, was inspected and found with the following violation: Soda gun holders (4), a food contact surface, was observed to have pink organic matter and were not clean to sight and touch. Corrected.

On 9/15/2026, Grill Volunteer Fire Co. #1, located at 739 Mountain View Rd., Reading, PA 19607, was inspected and found with the following violation: Commercially processed refrigerated, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food, located in the walk-in cooler, and held more than 24 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened. Paper towels not available at the handwash sink in the bar area. Corrected.

On 9/15/2026, Fleetwood Area SD Willow Creek Elementary, located at 605 Crisscross Rd., Fleetwood, PA 19522, was inspected and found with the following violation: Water, as observed at the handwash in the dish room, is not under adequate pressure during inspection. Please repair.

On 9/15/2026, Arby’s #5229, located at 15506 Kutztown Rd., Kutztown, PA 19530, was inspected and found with the following violation: Back door located in the backroom area of the food facility has a gap and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals. Please repair.

On 9/16/2026, Dunkin Donuts #345126, located at 5401 Perkiomen Ave., Reading, PA 19606, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed an accumulation of old food debris and other items on the floor under shelving and equipment throughout the facility. Thermometers for ensuring proper temperature of equipment are not available or readily accessible in the front Delfield refrigerator and the small under-counter Pepsi refrigerator. Corrected. There is a significant build-up of ice in the front Delfield refrigerator. Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the back food preparation area. Corrected. Working container (spray bottle) in the back area, used for storing chemicals, cleaners taken from bulk supplies, was not marked with the common name of the chemical. Corrected.

Several other restaurants were inspected during this time period with no violations reported: Wawa Food Market #286 in Sinking Spring, Wawa #8179 in Robesonia, River Run Honey & Candy in Leesport, Porky’s Last Stand Smokehouse & BBQ in Robesonia, Magerks Pub & Grill in Wyomissing, Dunkin Donuts in Sinking Spring, Countryside Fries and More in Leesport, Plum Dawgs in Wernersville, K’Town Pub in Kutztown, Citrus Squeeze & Chill in Kempton, Turkey Hill Minit Market #124 in Hereford, Malizzi Cakes and Pastries in Douglassville, Los Gios Smoke and Grill in Douglassville, Los Gios Smoke and Grill in Douglassville, Los Gios Commissary in Douglassville, Kutztown SD Elementary School in Kutztown, Boyertown Area Schools Senior High School in Boyertown, Twin Valley Middle School in Elverson, KLM Cattle Co and Mars Market in Kutztown, High Point Baptist Academy in Geigertown, Brandywine Heights SD Elementary School in Topton, Tulpehocken SD Bethel Elementary in Bethel, Terra Pacem Winery in Boyertown, Nae Nae’s Cakery in Boyertown, Boyertown Area Senior High School Memorial Stadium Concessions in Boyertown, and April’s Sweet Treats in Hamburg.
