Residents are invited to spend a day helping clean the Schuylkill River and enjoying outdoor activities during the 5th Annual RIVERZILLA Community Day & Park Clean-Up on Saturday, Aug. 1, at Riverfront Park.

Hosted by the City of Reading Public Works Department in collaboration with Schuylkill River Greenways, Keep Reading Beautiful, the 18th Wonder Improvement Association, and Take It Outdoors Outfitters, the free, family-friendly event is designed to promote environmental stewardship while encouraging the community to explore Reading’s outdoor recreation opportunities.

The day begins with a riverbank clean-up from 9 to 11 a.m. Organizers encourage volunteers to wear sturdy shoes that can get wet. All clean-up supplies will be provided, and participants will receive a light lunch.

Community Day activities will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature free kayaking demonstrations, trail bike loans, watershed education, crafts, food and outdoor games for all ages.

The event will take place at Riverfront Park, 407 Riverfront Drive in Reading. Admission is free.
